At the time of the injection, I'm fairly sure he hit the nerve because a bolt of pain hit. I've only ever had that happen at the dentist when he told me he hit the nerve and I'd be good an numb for a long time. Since the injection last Monday, almost a whole week now, I have still been dealing with numbness, but now I also have pain in the ball of my foot. The shot was cortisone only, no numbing agents. I haven't had pain in my toes for a couple weeks, even prior to the injection, only numbness. He said that surgery was probably next if the injection doesn't work. I'm not super happy about the new pain or the possibility of surgery.Alicianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6472556603919485287.post-45772847788336652512018-09-12T23:04:24.120-04:002018-09-12T23:04:24.120-04:00I have been fighting with what I believe MN for 18...I have been fighting with what I believe MN for 18 months. Trying three custom orthotics, changing to new wider shoes, six alcohol injections did not help. What is worrisome is that two MRI tests and ultrasound could not confirm presence of MN or any other foot deformities (planta tear, second toe MPJ etc). However, 3 podiatrists could confirm MRI clinically through Mulder’s click test. I did get a steroid injection just recently and hope that it would give some relief. Is there any chance, may be not reversing, but at least managing these condition through steroid injection(s), and proper foot wear after such a long time? or is surgery unavoidable?Nayil_Knoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6472556603919485287.post-83295735367032819052018-07-25T13:14:35.670-04:002018-07-25T13:14:35.670-04:00Great info

Kept trying for a week or so. Quit jumping. Right foot continued going numb at random intervals. At about 3.5 months, the left foot began going numb as well. At 4 months, began getting that walking on a small object feeling as well as numb feeling in toes and ball of foot. Can't really tell which toes. Feels like all 4 except big toe. Now, both feet feel this way all the time.

Bought some kyboot tennis shoes. Very cushioned and wide toe box. Desk job, so not much walking, but does not take much for this weird feeling to get worse.

Seems I damaged both feet by the jump roping, since out began during that. You think that's most likely? Since I have no real pain, just a very uncomfortable, walking on an object and numb feeling, I ordered custom orthotics from thetaorthotics.com

He seems to be a podiatrist. Good advertising at least. Says in 30 years he has 85% success rate with Morton's neuroma using orthotics. I don't have them yet, but will see podiatrist soon. I'm guessing from my symptoms, he'll recommend cortisone shots. Since no pain, do the shots revolve the walking on a pecan feeling and the numbness by reducing inflammation?

Could the orthotics resolve it, or since I've had this for 4 months and it's progressively gotten worse, are the shots necessary?

Thank youAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6472556603919485287.post-38748255852206188202017-11-01T08:40:18.358-04:002017-11-01T08:40:18.358-04:00Interesting! The sharp pain has gone but I now have an aching feeling where the neuroma was. It's annoying rather than painful. I don't want surgery but I don't want to say it's better if this is a sign of it coming back. Anyone experienced this annoying ache. It seems to be more noticible in the evening. Sometimes when I manipulate my foot it seems to crack/pop and is painful then I get a feeling of relief. Does the nerve continue to build scar tissue or does it reach a certain state and stop? It's been about 2 years and have tried cortisone injections, ice, custom orthotics which have helped me to some extent but really only mask the symptoms short term. So I am considering getting the operation and be done with it all. The op was been pretty successful.

However, having since read all the horror stories (thank you, Google), and noticing the symptoms in my right foot at a much earlier stage (the 'popping' of the nerve through the metatarsals, but not really the pain, unless I wear heels - which I generally don't), I'm trying to avoid having to have surgery again.

So I had a cortisone injection 2 weeks ago today, and have had pain (mild) / soreness / tenderness constantly (when my weight is on the foot) ever since. Walking is worse than running, and I can feel myself compensating by walking unevenly / on the wrong part of my foot, which I worry about.

Are you able to tell me whether this is normal, or whether I need to see my doctor (I was told to do this if a flare up didn't subside within 2 days, but it just doesn't feel like an infection - it's not swollen or incredibly painful)?

I am due to return to my consultant on 7th March anyway.

Thanks so much for your help,

LornaLornanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6472556603919485287.post-35065687827163302272016-02-20T14:17:17.439-05:002016-02-20T14:17:17.439-05:00Do stereoids always have to be administered with u...Do stereoids always have to be administered with ultrasound?
